NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet in a press conference on Friday 15 October, 2021, announced that from November 1, travellers arriving into Sydney, who are fully-vaccinated, will not be required to quarantine at all, in hotel or home.
The decision opens up the opportunity for Australians stranded overseas due to quarantine to return home. But critics have warned that this is a risky decision, and more needs to be done regarding visitation from countries with high rates of covid cases overseas.
As of November 1, the only requirement will be that people arriving into NSW – which mainly happens through Sydney Airport's gateway gate- need to have fully vaccinated themselves with an approved COVID shot and take a PCR Covid-19 test before boarding their flight.
People arriving in NSW from overseas who are not fully vaccinated must quarantine for 14 days. A cap on arrivals who are not fully vaccinated will apply.
