Fishermans Beach is between Collaroy point and the northern part of Long Reef Point. It's really a sheltered bay opposite the Long Reef Golf Course and the gateway to Long Reef Aquatic Reserve.
Long Reef Aquatic Reserve was the first aquatic reserve in NSW.
It spans approximately 80 hectares, with boundaries from the Collaroy rock baths south to Long Reef Surf Lifesaving Club and 100m out to sea.
A local favourite is to take your rod and throw a line in. If you like fishing, chances are this is the place for you. You might even catch some squid or bream and make a feed of it.
You can also include snorkelling, diving, line fishing and spearfishing for some fish.
If fishing isn't really your thing but admiring nature is, there's plenty to see here. Long Reef Aquatic reserve offers heaps of trees, birds and other wildlife that can be spotted from Fishermans Beach such as eastern water dragons.
From Long Reef Surf Lifesaving Club on the point, you can see Manly and the Spit on a clear day.
Fishermans Beach borders Collaroy and Narrabeen beaches. It's not too far from Dee Why either and is only 15 minutes away from Manly harbour.
Long Reef Headland Walk is an easy coastal walk that can be done in a loop or further along the beach to Dee Why. There are plenty of rocks to sit on and admire the view, as well as a beach to cool off in.
Fishermans Beach has a number of coffee shops and a popular bakery. It is just a short stroll to the atmosphere of Collaroy or a quick drive to nearby Dee Why.
For the more adventurous type, camping is available at nearby Narrabeen Lakes.
You could score holiday rentals at both Collaroy and Dee Why with plenty of good restaurants in between. It is mainly a residential area.
The nearby Long Reef Golf Club has some great food.
In Collaroy there are some great cafes along the esplanade and plenty of options in Dee Why.
There are several supermarkets in Dee Why that stock everything from groceries to fashion items, ideal for stocking up before a day at the beach.
There is a medical centre in Dee Why that offers emergency facilities and an emergency hospital in Mona Vale.
Buses run frequently from Dee Why to Manly as well as the city and other surrounding suburbs.
Only 5 minutes away in Dee Why, you'll find cafes, hotels and shopping. The bustling Brookvale commercial centre is also nearby with cinemas, restaurants and shops.
Another great place to check out is Narrabeen Lakes which offer fishing or water activities like canoeing and kayaking.
